About

Mission and strategy

Eawag is the water research institute of the ETH Domain. In addition to the two universities ETH Zurich and ETH Lausanne (EPFL), this includes the four independent research institutions Empa, PSI, WSL and Eawag. Eawag deals with concepts and technologies for the sustainable use of water and water resources – anchored nationally and internationally networked. In cooperation with universities, other research institutions, public authorities, industry and non-governmental organisations, Eawag contributes to reconciling ecological, economic and social interests in the waters. It thus performs a bridging function between science and practice.

Eawag's research departments are dedicated to three main research areas:

Our Values

Transparent and fair structures

Leadership culture and equal opportunities are core values of Eawag. We have a goal-oriented and dialogue-based management that enables all employees to continue their education and development. Equal opportunities between women and men are a matter of course.

Respectful interaction

Eawag offers its relatives a respectful, professional and motivating environment. Employees in all positions and from all areas maintain an appreciative and supportive relationship with each other. Discrimination, sexual harassment, bullying, threats and violence are not accepted at Eawag.

Integrity in research

Truthfulness, openness, integrity and fairness are the basis for the credibility and acceptance of science. Researchers at Eawag are committed to these values and adhere to the guidelines derived from them.
